On August 3, the good folks over at WordPress.org released version 2.8.3 which fixed more of the same security problems that were fixed since 2.8.1.

The following was posted by Ryan Boren over at WordPress.org:

Unfortunately, I missed some places when fixing the privilege escalation issues for 2.8.1.  Luckily, the entire WordPress community has our backs.  Several folks in the community dug deeper and discovered areas that were overlooked.  With their help, the remaining issues are fixed in 2.8.3.  Since this is a security release, upgrading is highly recommended.

Upgrading from a recent version of WordPress is generally simple and harmless. As always, be sure to have your WordPress site backed up (files and database) before beginning the upgrade. The upgrade is accomplished by clicking on the link in the yellow nag bar at the top of your admin page, and is fully automatic.

As always, I am available to assist with upgrades. Whether just backing up your site or doing the full upgrade and ensuring everything works – simple use my Contact Form to let me know how I can help.
